Acadia ALERT - Campus Closed (Weather)

Today, Tuesday, January 27, 2026, Acadia University will remain closed, with the exception of residences and Wheelock Dining Hall, due to the current campus and travel conditions. Wheelock Dining Hall may adjust their hours and any change in hours will be communicated through Residence Life.

Employees and students are not expected to come to campus and only employees deemed essential are required to report to work. Non-essential employees are not expected to work during the closure. Any events scheduled for today will be postponed or cancelled.

Updates will be posted on www.acadiau.ca and pre-recorded on Acadia’s Information Line: 902-585-4636 (585-INFO) and on 585 phone system voicemail. If you need emergency-related information, please contact the Department of Safety and Security by dialing 88 on all 585-phone systems, or by calling 902-585-1103.

Reporting Hazards and Incidents


Please report hazards and serious injuries to Safety and Security immediately by calling 585-1103. Any incident or injury involving a visitor must be reported.


Health and Safety Hazards

If you know of a hazard that poses an immediate risk to health or safety, report it.

Your responsibilities when you observe a hazard:

  • Notify your supervisor immediately, or Safety and Security in the absence of a supervisor.

Your supervisor's responsibilities when there has been a health and safety hazard:

  • Complete and send a Health and Safety Report (ideally within 2 business days).
  • Take appropriate corrective actions to reduce the hazard.

Accidents, Incidents, and Near-Misses

Serious injuries and all occurrences involving visitors must be reported immediately to Safety and Security.

Your responsibilities when you have a health and safety occurrence:

  • If you are injured, promptly receive first aid.
  • If necessary, obtain medical treatment.
  • Notify your supervisor immediately.

Your supervisor's responsibilities when there has been a health and safety occurrence:

  • Ensure that the first aid and other medical treatment is received.
  • Promptly investigate the occurrence to determine the causes.
  • Complete and send an Health and Safety Report (ideally within 2 business days).
  • Take appropriate corrective actions to prevent a recurrence.
