As President and Vice-Chancellor and on behalf of the entire Acadia University community, including its more than 36,000 alumni worldwide, I welcome you to our website and invite you to learn more about our incredible university.
Acadia has a well-earned reputation for excellence and has been offering students a unique learning experience since our founding in 1838. Acadia is a special place where students have an amazing connection to their professors, the community, and the world. As we like to say, Acadia touches both your head and your heart, and our graduates maintain a unique, lifelong relationship with their alma mater.
Our beautiful campus is located on the ancestral territory of Mi’kma’ki in Wolfville, Nova Scotia – the quintessential college town.
When the university is in session, Wolfville’s population is almost equally balanced between university students and full-time residents. This means that Acadia and its activities - from sports and leisure to arts and culture - are integral to the town.
Together, Acadia and Wolfville provide a safe and vibrant community that quickly becomes a home away from home for our students. Situated in the Annapolis Valley, our campus is home to one of the most beautiful areas in Canada and offers the world’s highest tides and spectacular coastal scenery. The provincial capital Halifax is less than a one-hour drive away, providing our students close proximity to Atlantic Canada’s largest metropolitan region and Nova Scotia’s international airport.
I was drawn to Acadia because of its commitment to academic excellence and its rich history of providing a well-balanced approach to the education and development of its students – including the academic, social, and cultural aspects of the university learning experience.
During my career, I have had the opportunity to work in universities across Canada, and I know how highly Acadia is respected by opinion leaders and how its students are highly sought after by graduate schools and employers. Acadia's professors have always been regarded as among the most innovative teachers, researchers, and community leaders in our nation; and its graduates are among the best performers in every sector of society.
I hope that as you peruse this website, you will, like me, be inspired to learn more about Acadia and what makes it one of Canada’s most outstanding universities.
An Acadia education will prepare you for life and provide you with the opportunity to fulfil your dreams.
