Pre-Arrival Guide
The International Student Pre-Arrival Guide supports new students prior to arrival to Canada. This guide explores various topics, from what documents you will need to carry with you when travelling to Canada to resources available on-campus to support international students. You will also be able to connect with fellow incoming students, helping you to form connections before you arrive on campus. Students who successfully complete the guide will be entered to win various prizes with one of them being $1000 towards their tuition.
- The Pre-Arrival Guide will be offered through Acadia’s online learning management system, Moodle. As a student, you will frequently use Moodle to access course materials once you begin classes and/or take online courses.
- It is important that you activate your @acadiau.ca email address, as you will need this to log into the Moodle platform. You can find information on how to activate your Acadia email address on this webpage.
- As a new student, you will be automatically enrolled in the Pre-Arrival Guide prior to its launch. We will email you once the course is open. Please ensure that you are checking the email address that provided in your admission application, as all communication prior to your arrival will be sent to that address.
iCent app
The Wong International Centre has partnered with iCent to offer pre-arrival and onboarding support via the iCent app. The iCent app contains important information regarding the free airport pick-up service, the airport welcome desk and resources available at Acadia. You are highly encouraged to download this app before you leave for Canada so you can get familiarized with the information.
The app can be accessed either via PC/laptop or a phone.
Pre-Arrival Information Sessions
The Wong International Centre offers Pre-Arrival Information Sessions for new international students arriving for the Fall and Winter semesters. The Pre-Arrival Sessions allows new students to meet the various staff at Acadia who will be supporting you throughout your program of study and learn about what they do and how you can reach out for assistance. Examples of some of the sessions include but are not limited to: the Wong International Centre, residence life (on-campus housing), off-campus housing, student accounts (fees and payments) etc.
