Acadia International Partnership Formation Process
Potential Partnership is proposed to Acadia International through any number of channels – priority given to internal proposals from Acadia faculty. Proposed partnerships should be of an academic nature. Research, business, or community only partnerships will be the sole authority of the Division of Research, Innovation and Graduate Studies.
Coordinator of Partnerships and Agreements will conduct initial research into the feasibility of proposed partnership.
Coordinator of Partnerships and Agreements will facilitate meeting between proposer and all other related individuals at proposing institution (all exchange and study abroad proposals will involve the Coordinator of Exchange and Study Abroad).
Acadia International will reach out to other institution to inquire into its willingness to cooperate with proposer (either internally or externally depending on who proposed partnership).
Related academic departments will be consulted on proposed partnership (Department Heads have veto power on partnerships that directly impact their programs). Note general MOUs usually do not involve department consultation.
If proposal passes department consultation, it will go to the Registrar’s Office for review (Registrar’s Office has veto power).
If proposal passes Registrar’s Office review, agreement template will be sent to partner for review or partner template will be reviewed by Acadia International
Once agreement template has been approved by both institutions, it will go to the Vice President Academic’s office for review and, if not vetoed, will be signed.
The signed agreement will be sent to the proposed partner for their representative’s signature. After which, the agreement formally comes into effect.
Acadia International will monitor the agreement and facilitate further cooperation with partner institution wherever possible. Moreover, new partnerships will be announced on the partnership webpage and new partner institutions will be added to the active partners list.
Note: This is only an outline of the general partnership process, each type of agreement will involve alternations to this format, such as articulation agreements requiring course mapping by the related Acadia academic department. As per course mapping, a potential partners curriculum will initially be handed to the registrar’s office for review, and all courses that have note already been transferred at an earlier time will be passed along to faculty, as well as for review of how the evaluated transfer credits fit into the Acadia program course requirements.
