As a third-generation graduate of Acadia University in a four-generation Acadia family, I am honoured to serve the Acadia Alumni Association as President. My introduction to the University started at an early age, when my parents returned to Acadia in 1963-64 for a year of studies in Education with five young children in tow. I experienced at that formative age the unique sense of belonging that embraces you when you become part of the Acadia community, and I have enjoyed it ever since.
The exceptional learning experiences, lifelong friendships, connections with so many professors, and the personal growth I experienced as a student: it begins when you arrive on campus and continues when you cross the stage to receive your degree. You are then part of a new community – the Acadia alumni community – which promises to support you as you take on new challenges and encourages you to stay connected to your alma mater as you navigate your life’s journey.
Stay in touch with fellow alumni and the University through our alumni website, the monthly alumni e-Newsletter, and your digital alumni magazine, the Bulletin. Check out our Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter accounts. Join in our online virtual events or participate in lifelong and long-distance learning through Open Acadia. When circumstances permit, I invite you to join us for Summer Reunion, Homecoming, and any of the other off-campus events we host across the Maritimes, Canada and internationally each year.
Additionally, Acadia alumni receive many great benefits and services through affinity partners such as TD Insurance Meloche Monnex, iA Financial Group, and BMO. We also encourage members of our alumni community to consider sharing their talents and expertise on our Alumni Association Board of Directors. Our Nominating Committee invites graduates who wish to be considered as candidates to apply by submitting an Expression of Interest.
Thank you for supporting Acadia University and the Acadia Alumni Association.
Donalda MacBeath ('75)
President, Acadia Alumni Association
The Nominating Committee of the Acadia Alumni Association is currently inviting an “Expression of Interest” from members of our alumni community who might wish to be considered as candidates for the Acadia Alumni Association’s Board of Directors.
An Expression of Interest includes an introductory paragraph or two outlining your interest in serving on the Board, why you would like to do so, what particular skills and perspectives you would bring to the post and any additional information that would serve to support your ability to represent the diverse alumni population of Acadia University, along with a current curriculum vitae.
All submissions will be reviewed by the Nominating Committee of the Alumni Association and a list of potential candidates developed. All submissions will be kept on file for future consideration unless withdrawn by the candidate. Please submit your Expression of Interest to Oonagh Proudfoot ('93, '06), Executive Director, Alumni Affairs at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for your interest in Acadia University and the Acadia Alumni Association.
