Residence Life Review: Where We’re At
Thank you to everyone who has been part of the Residence Life review so far. We’ve had lots of good, honest conversations about living and working in residence—what’s going well, what’s been frustrating, and what could make the experience better.
We appreciate you making time to talk with us and being open about your experiences. Some of these conversations haven’t been easy, and we’re taking what you’ve shared seriously.
We’re Starting to See Themes
We’re getting close to the end of the engagement phase and starting to pull together what we’ve heard. Themes and areas to focus on are beginning to emerge.
That means looking at what’s come up across conversations, where people have had different experiences, and what we still need to understand better. We’re also looking at policies, documents, and other information to see how things are intended to work and how that compares with everyday life in residence.
We want to understand what needs to change and what’s worth keeping and building on. We’re still working through that, so we don’t have final findings or recommendations to share just yet.
What Happens Next?
We’ll be engaging an Advisory Committee to help us check that the themes coming out of the review reflect people’s experiences. As we work through what we’ve heard, the committee will ask questions, point out anything we may have missed, and help us think through what needs the most attention. Their input will help shape recommendations that make sense for everyday life in residence.
Then the next phase is called Analysis and Validation. It’s about making sense of what we’ve learned and checking that we’ve understood it accurately.
We’ll take a closer look at the emerging themes, follow up where we need more clarity, and work with the review’s Advisory Committee and subject matter experts to check our understanding. We’ll also consider how different issues connect and which need the most attention.
We know some people have shared their concerns before. We’re building on that feedback and being mindful of the time and energy it takes to revisit difficult experiences
How Does This Lead to Change?
From there, we’ll develop recommendations and a plan for putting them into action. That plan will identify what could happen sooner, what will take more time or resources, and who should be responsible for moving things forward.
Acadia will then decide which recommendations to adopt and how to carry them out. Sharing those decisions and keeping students informed about progress will be an important part of the follow-through.
We know the question is, “What will actually come out of this?” That’s why the next part of the work matters: turning what you’ve shared into clear, practical recommendations.
Thank you again for your honesty, your ideas, and your time. You’re helping shape where this review goes next.
