Acadia and Service Employees International Union Local 2 Ratify New Three-Year Collective Agreement

Acadia University and the union representing its support staff, the Service Employees International Union Local 2, have ratified the terms of a new, three-year collective agreement effective July 1, 2014 and ending June 30, 2017. Members of the Union and the University’s Board of Governors have voted in favour of accepting the new agreement.
“Negotiators from both bargaining teams need to be congratulated for reaching a settlement through a short, four-day collective bargaining period, said Paul Jewer, Chair of Acadia’s Board of Governors. “The spirit of co-operation exhibited by both teams was a principal factor in their success at the table. Our administrative, support and technical staff are important partners in Acadia’s overall efforts to maintain and improve our service to students and strengthen our institution’s reputation as one of Canada’s best universities.”
“I want to thank members of the SEIU negotiating team for their hard work on behalf of their colleagues," said Troy Acker, Chair of SEIU Local 2. “Acadia’s SEIU members are focused on delivering the best service possible to the campus community and we’re pleased with this new agreement.”
