Acadia mourns Mary-Lou Conrad

Mary Lou Conrad passed away at her home in Wolfville at the age of 62 on November 29, 2024.

Mary Lou Conrad Web Manager for the Vaughan Memorial Library for over thirty years. Beginning way back in 1987, Mary Lou brought a unique blend of creativity, joy, and dedication to her work, leaving an indelible mark on the library and its community until her retirement in 2016.

“Mary Lou's spirit was a gift to all who knew her,” says Jennifer Richard (Acting Dean of Libraries and Archives). “Her Halloween and Holiday websites were legendary, spreading cheer and fun to staff and students alike. She approached life with enthusiasm, whether joining colleagues at Wheelock for lunch or sledding down the hill outside the library. Her laughter echoed through the halls, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that enriched the lives of everyone around her.”

She will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her library family and the people she touched around campus.

There will be no visitation or service by request but an ask to look for the good in people, situations and events, to stay positive,  and to do something to put a smile on someone's face. Donations in memory may be made to the ALS Society of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

We invite you to read Mary Lou’s full obituary and to share your condolences with the community.
