Acadia mourns Tanja Harrison

Tanja Harrison passed away on December 2, 2024.

Tanja was an incredibly hard-working and innovative librarian who made a lasting impact during her decade at Acadia University from 2000 to 2010. She was a central figure in the development of the acclaimed You Quote It, You Note It tutorial, a tool that revolutionized how students approached citation and academic integrity.

As a liaison librarian to the School of Business and the School of Kinesiology and Recreation Management, Tanja's dedication to her work was evident in the relationships she cultivated and the support she offered to faculty and students alike. Her contributions extended beyond the library, as she was also an active member of the Acadia University Faculty Association (AUFA), always championing collaboration and excellence.

“While her professional contributions were remarkable, what truly set Tanja apart was her warmth, her radiant smile, and her boundless generosity,” says Jennifer Richard (Acting Dean of Libraries and Archives). “Tanja’s spirit will be deeply missed by her colleagues, friends, and family. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and the many ways she made Acadia a better place.”

Visitation will take place at J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr, Halifax, NS, December 9, 2024, 5pm to 8pm. There will also be a Celebration of Life held on December 10, 2024, at 10 am at J. A Snow Funeral Home. The service will be live-streamed, access on the service details tab below.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

We welcome you to read her full obituary and to share your condolences.
