Enactus students come home as Atlantic Champs

The results of Enactus Acadia’s performance at the Atlantic Canada Regional Exposition are in... and they brought home three trophies!

The team of more than 20 students from across campus represented Acadia with professionalism, innovation, and tremendous grit throughout the competition, held in Halifax February 26 and 27. The competition sees teams showcase how their community outreach projects and business ventures are making an impact.

Enactus Acadia competed in all four categories, with outstanding results:

  • Resilient Youth – Winner, Desjardins Community Empowerment Challenge
  • FoodSharing – Runner-Up, TD Entrepreneurship Challenge
  • Carbon Roots – Winner, Canadian Tire Environmental Sustainability Challenge

Like any good competition, there was a major upset: in the Environmental Sustainability Challenge, Acadia’s Carbon Roots project defeated Saint Mary’s University, the reigning World Champions, with the very initiative that helped them secure that title last year. It was an extraordinary moment of poise, preparation, and impact.

Alex Dulay (Business ‘26), the current president of Enactus Acadia, and Sophia Rae (Psychology ‘28), the incoming president, are part of the team.

“Being part of Enactus for the past four years has been one of the greatest gifts of my university experience. To not only grow with this team but to have the privilege of leading it has shaped me in ways I never expected,” Alex Dulay says. “Enactus has allowed me to be part of something bigger than myself, a community driven by purpose and action.”

“What inspires me most is the team. These students challenge me, motivate me, and remind me every day why this work matters. Their courage, compassion, and commitment to real impact give me hope for a better world and a future led by true changemakers. It has been an honour to build alongside them,” Dulay adds.

“When I first got to Acadia last year and joined Enactus, I had no idea how dramatically it was going to change my life. These students are so passionate about making a real, lasting impact on the lives of others. Enactus has given me a place to grow my business, Resilient Youth, but also some of my closest friends, and I couldn’t be more grateful!” Sophia Rae says.

Dr. Kristin Williams (Management) attended alongside the team as a faculty advisor and noted how well the team represented the university on this regional stage.

“This was an extraordinary moment for Enactus Acadia and for our university. Seeing our students compete across all four categories and return home with three trophies speaks to the depth of their preparation, innovation, and resilience,” Dr. Willams says.

“Projects like Resilient Youth, FoodSharing, and Carbon Roots embody the experiential learning and social innovation that define Acadia at its best. Watching them compete with such professionalism, confidence, and conviction, and ultimately achieve this level of success, was truly inspiring,” she says.

“It was a powerful reminder of the talent, leadership, and entrepreneurial spirit we are cultivating here. These students are not just competing; they are building solutions that strengthen communities and advance sustainability,” she says.

Congratulations to the entire Enactus Acadia team: you represented Acadia with excellence!
