Ivany greets Acadia alumni in Hong Kong

Acadia alumni turned out to welcome President Ray Ivany on his first visit to Hong Kong at a festive dinner in Causeway Bay, HK on February 27, 2014.
It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate Acadia’s 175th anniversary and the recent gift to Acadia from the Wu family, whom Ivany was delighted to recognize and thank during the evening. The family’s gift of $1.5 million will allow Acadia to build the Wu Welcome Centre at Alumni Hall.
A group of more than 30 people, including prospective students and their parents, parents of current students and many Hong Kong alumni, enjoyed the occasion. There is tremendous enthusiasm in Hong Kong to expand Acadia’s alumni program and contribute to the University’s future success. Thanks to Dr. Andre Lau (’61) and John Wu (’70) for helping to organize this wonderful event.
Ivany was joined at The Graces Restaurant by Acadia’s Vice-President, Advancement, Dr. Rod Morrison; Mr. Jim Darnbrough, Executive Director, Enrolment Services; and Mr. Michael Hennigar, International Enrolment Advisor.
Additional alumni events were slated for Kuala Lumpur on March 1 and Singapore March 5, where alumni were updated by Morrison on the latest University news and heard from Darnbrough about Acadia’s recruitment efforts in Asia and elsewhere.
