Acadia mourns Dr. Andrew Peter Booth, who passed away on June 2, 2026.

Dr. Booth spent nearly half of the 87 years of his life at Acadia teaching Classics. While his passion in the classroom was Mythology, outside of the classroom he was an avid patron of the arts and participant in local theatre productions.

Jean Kelly (Access Services Coordinator, Vaughan Memorial Library) says that while she remembers Dr. Booth as “an excellent library patron,” she knew him best through their shared love of theatre.  

“He was delightful! He had a quirky sense of humour and was a joy to work with. I shared a few memories and laughs with another theatre comrade last evening. The sound of our laughter as we reminisced was our tribute of love to Peter,” she reflects. “Peter was a kind, talented man and most of all he was well loved.”

A Celebration of Life will take place at Centre Stage Theatre in Kentville from 1:00-3:00 pm on Sunday, September 6.
