Bridgewater Alumni Gathering

Date: April 15, 2025

Time: 6-8 p.m.

Location: La Casetta, 513 King St., Bridgewater, NS B4V 1B4

Spring is here and we're on the road, traversing the Lighthouse Route and Evangeline Trail to visit alumni in Bridgewater, Yarmouth and Digby! If you are in one of these locations on the following dates, please plan to join us and contribute to the Climate Action conversation.

The journey begins in Bridgewater where, on April 15, we will learn more about Treehouse Village, an environmentally responsible Ecoliving project, the first of its kind in Atlantic Canada. And Bridgewater was just announced as one of the winners of the FCM Sustainable Communities Award for its energy poverty reduction program.

Dr. David Duke will be with us to chat about how these types of initiatives relate to the bigger picture on climate action. The next day we are back on the road again to check in on what’s new in Yarmouth and Digby on April 16 and 17 respectively.

David arrived at Acadia in 1999 on a short-term contract to teach Russian and Soviet history in the Department of History and Classics. The contract turned into a career at Acadia, where he now serves as Dean of Arts and still teaches in the History and Environmental and Sustainability Studies programs. His recent research focuses on recovery from historical severe weather events in the Maritimes, looking for lessons in the past that could be applied in a climate-changing world.

Appetizers and a free drink ticket per guest will be provided at each event.
