Community Homecoming Message

As we head into Homecoming weekend, we remind our students, alumni and friends of Acadia that it is our collective responsibility to take care of one another, and our broader community.

Each one of us is part of a larger whole here at Acadia: our own social circles, the wider university community, and the Town of Wolfville. Individual actions can affect all other members of our community.

Homecoming is an opportunity to celebrate what makes our community so special. We ask that while students, alumni and friends celebrate, they bear in mind the responsibility to remain respectful of the people, spaces, residences, and businesses that make up our home. The University, Alumni Association and Town of Wolfville stand against racism, discrimination, violence of any kind and any other behaviour that is disruptive to our community.

We recognize that Acadia and Wolfville are not immune to sexualized violence and gender-based violence. We must work together to ensure that no further harm comes to members of our community. This work goes well beyond our behaviour during Homecoming. It means having hard conversations with your friends, refusing to be a silent bystander, and listening to survivors.

We have a zero-tolerance policy for sexualized violence and any perpetrators will be prosecuted to the full extent of Acadia’s sexualized violence policy and the law. Treat other community members with respect and speak up if you see behaviour that is harmful, unsafe or disrespectful.

Be a good neighbour, take care of each other, and have a great Homecoming.

Acadia University. Acadia Students’ Union. Acadia Alumni Office & Alumni Association. Town of Wolfville.

Did you know that Acadia is a scent-free campus? We all want Acadia to be an inclusive and welcoming place, and many people have sensitivities to scents. Acadia University is a community that respects the importance of and takes responsibility for the quality of the air we breathe. To foster and  promote clean air in our region, Acadia has developed and implemented a Share The Air policy. This policy is applicable to all those who live, study, work or visit on the Acadia campus.
