Acadia University alumni and friends are invited to gather at Durty Nelly’s Irish Pub prior to the Acadia hockey game on January 29 and Acadia basketball games January 30 as part of Varsity Showdown 2016.

The Showdown will bring Acadia, Dalhousie, Saint Mary’s and St.FX together for two regular season men’s hockey games on January 29 and two women’s and men’s regular season basketball doubleheaders on January 30, all at the Scotiabank Centre in downtown Halifax.

To mark the occasion, Durty Nelly’s is offering an Axeman Special: a 6 oz. Withrow’s farm beef, whiskey barbeque sauce, smoked cheddar, thick cut bacon, crispy onions, burger sauce, lettuce, pickle, and a 20 oz. pint of Alexander Keith’s.

Friday, January 29^th

4 p.m. – St.FX X-Men vs. Dalhousie Tigers: Men’s Hockey

8 p.m. – Acadia Axemen vs. Saint Mary’s Huskies: Men’s Hockey

Saturday, January 30^th

1 p.m. – St.FX X-Women vs. Saint Mary’s Huskies: Women’s Basketball

3 p.m. – St.FX X-Men vs. Saint Mary’s Huskies: Men’s Basketball

6 p.m. – Acadia Axewomen vs. Dalhousie Tigers: Women’s Basketball

8 p.m. – Acadia Axemen vs. Dalhousie Tigers: Men’s Basketball

Tickets are available through Ticket Atlantic. Each hockey game is priced at $10 for adults and $5 for youth and seniors. Each basketball doubleheader is $15 for adults and $7.50 for youth and seniors. Full event passes that include all four events (6 total games) are also available at $40 for adults and $20 for youth and seniors. All prices include HST, but are subject to a box office ticket fee.
