This month, join Executive Director, Alumni Affairs Oonagh Proudfoot (’93, ’06) as she chats with recent graduates from 2020 and 2021 who are pursuing somewhat non-traditional employment roles, how they made the decision to do so, and how they got there.

Sami Jean (’21) - Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics
Au Pair, Brand Ambassador and Digital Content Creator
Sami is a proud Acadia alum, graduating in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics while also excelling on the varsity swim team. Their post-grad journey led them to become an au pair in America, where they discovered a passion for digital content creation. Through their engaging content, Sami caught the attention of the Au Pair Agency, leading to a collaboration and special placement in Milan, Italy. Now, as an ambassador for the agency, Sami shares their cultural insights and experiences while embracing the unexpected twists of their journey with enthusiasm.
Doanya Gholami (’21) - Bachelor of Business Administration, Major in Marketing
Fashion Stylist, Marketing Consultant and Entrepreneur
Fashion stylist, marketing consultant and entrepreneur, Doanya graduated from Acadia in the BBA program with a major in marketing. With the debut collection of her private label 'Doanya' set to launch in spring 2024, Doanya is currently working in People Events and Recognition at Aritzia Support Office in Vancouver while building her own Canadian fashion business, with hopes to create more opportunity and community in the fashion world in Canada. From working in NYC as a personal assistant, fashion stylist, and business manager, Doanya leads with creativity, authenticity, passion and curiosity.
Evan Holmes (’21) - Bachelor of Business Administration
Online Fitness Coach and Digital Content Creator
Evan was born and raised in the Annapolis Valley. He began pursuing his business degree at the University of Ottawa and completed two years before returning to Acadia to complete the degree. During his undergrad, Evan played football with both the UOttawa Gee Gees and the Acadia Axemen. Since the beginning of high school, Evan has had a love for fitness, weight training, good eating and health. In 2020, he began exploring the world of social media content creation and sharing his love, passion and knowledge of fitness and nutrition through various platforms. Currently, Evan is an online fitness coach offering both individual and group training. Using Instagram and YouTube, among other social media platforms, he creates content offering advice, opinions, reactions, and myth-busting by referring to the most recent exercise science data and literature, as well as sharing personal experiences, including successes and failures, and his own mental health journey. Evan is a sponsored athlete for YoungLA gym and lifestyle apparel as well as Gorilla Mind supplements. He lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
