Virtual Event | Think Before You Click: Cybersecurity Awareness
October is cybersecurity awareness month. It is an international campaign that highlights the importance of cybersecurity in our lives. The Internet makes our lives easier and connects us to the rest of the world and we rely increasingly on these connections, but our devices pack a lot of information about us, our friends and our family. Unfortunately, there are bad guys out there who harness that convenience to do harm. Lisa Speigel and Jerry George, Technology Services, will provide an overview of common cybersecurity threats and offer some protection tips.

Speaker bios:
Lisa Speigel is the Technology Business Coordinator, Acadia Technology Services. Lisa has been on the Acadia campus, in a variety of different roles, for 17 years. She made the jump to Technology Services in 2016. As part of her Technology Services portfolio, she is responsible for cybersecurity and privacy awareness and communications.
Jerry George is the Manager, Service Desk, Acadia Technology Services. Jerry has been with Technology Services his entire career – almost 23 years at the Service Desk. Some of you might have had him help you. Jerry and his team are responsible for supporting faculty, staff, students and alumni. They are the first contact in the case of a cybersecurity breach. In these cases, that’s a call you don’t want to receive.
