There was much to celebrate on July 23, 2021 during the 39th Annual Acadia Alumni Golf Tournament at KenWo Golf Club in New Minas, Nova Scotia, located in Mi'kma'ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People.

This was the first event since the advent of the pandemic prohibited in-person Acadia alumni gatherings, and there was certainly a festive mood as more than 120 golfers took to the course to celebrate our alumni community and provide financial support to incoming Acadia students by contributing to the Alumni Bursary – Valley Branch.

Spirits were high throughout the day and winners were declared in several categories, including:

Red Division OVERALL Winner: Team 7, with Sundeep Oad (’06), Derek MacKinnon (’03), Tamuno Cookey (’04), Jamie Lo, and Marc Roach (’06).

Red Division 2nd place winner: Team 13, with Liam Maaskant (’19), Dawson Carty (’21), Boston Leier (’18), Robert Steeves (’18), and Stephen Woodworth (’18).

Red Division 3rd place winner: Team 6, with Darrell Cook (’86), Dan Lister (’78), Kim Connell (‘83), Mike Fougere, and Paul Burgoyne (’85).

Blue Division 1st place winner: Team 15, with Morgan Ennis, Emily Nickerson (’17), Erik Nissen (’18), Katie Ross (’17), and Brooke Wagner.

Blue Division 2nd place winner: Team 4, with Martin Suter (’88), Geoff Irvine (’87), Sam Kenny (’74), John MacKay, and Garry Stewart (’84).

Blue Division 3rd place and Alumni Spirit Award winner: Team 22, Liam Dutton (’11), Maddie Mackenzie (’16), Leah Vasil (’17), Hannah White (’21), and Danielle Poirier (’16).

A special award was given to tournament co-founder Tom Prescott (’58) by fellow tournament co-founder Bill Parker (’56) to acknowledge Tom’s long-standing commitment to this perennial Acadia event. Tom is stepping away from his duties on the organizing committee after 39 incredible years of service to Acadia’s alumni community. Many thanks, Tom, for your dedication and devotion to Acadia!
