Acadia Advancement nabs gold, silver in 38th Annual Educational Advertising Awards competition

by Fred Sgambati (’83, ’85)

Winners have been announced in the 38th Annual Educational Advertising Awards competition, and Acadia’s Office of Advancement has once again topped the podium with a gold and silver. Winners were selected by a national panel of higher education marketers, advertising creative directors, marketing and advertising professionals.

“This competition acknowledges the very best educational websites and digital content and marketing in North America,” says Vice-President, Advancement Nancy Handrigan (’92). “We are so proud to be part of the conversation and to share our constituents’ incredible stories of achievement and generosity with audiences here at home and elsewhere around the world. We are doing great things at Acadia, and this recognition acknowledges our team’s ongoing commitment to creating and delivering collateral across multiple channels that is representative, purposeful and engaging. We strive to be the best, and our goal is to raise the bar even higher as we continue to illustrate that Acadia is like nowhere else.”

This year, over 2,000 entries were received from more than 1,000 colleges, universities and secondary schools from all 50 United States and numerous foreign countries. Our team won awards in the following categories:

Annual Report, The Giving Report – Gold

The Giving Report 2022 was a stewardship piece that provided financial details on the endowment fund and shared impact stories so donors could see how their gifts support Acadia’s transformative educational experience. The report celebrated individual donors and students, and provided an opportunity for the University to express its gratitude to donors as well.

The Acadia community is small but passionate. The Giving Report reflects the institution’s commitment to a personal and inclusive approach to learning and, through the many stories it shares and the level of alumni engagement it highlights, encourages readers to help drive change by giving back to their alma mater.

E-Publication, Bulletin – Silver

The fall 2022 digital edition of our alumni magazine, the Bulletin, featured ‘The power of potential’ as its overarching theme. Our goal was to showcase those in our Acadia family who foster and promote personal growth and accomplishment through perseverance, dedication and commitment; who recognize and empower potential and develop it to its fullest capacity. The transformative aspects of advocacy, information and strategic action cannot be underestimated, and the value they bring to our alumni community is immeasurable. Under the leadership of editor Fred Sgambati (’83, ’85) and in collaboration with colleagues in the Alumni Affairs Office, Development and the Acadia Alumni Association, the Bulletin continues to expand its scope and reach to deliver an immersive and visually appealing experience for readers across the full spectrum of our audience.

This year’s recognition is also a nice follow-up to the 37th Annual Educational Advertising Awards competition, when the fall 2021 edition of the Bulletin and The Giving Report 2021 each earned silver awards for excellence.

“The team in the Office of Advancement under Nancy Handrigan’s leadership continues to knock it out of the park,” says Acadia Alumni Association President Matt Rios (’14). “The publications they produce are visually dynamic and represent in the best way possible the strategic initiatives of both the University and the Acadia Alumni Association through storytelling that engages and informs simultaneously. We are delighted with these latest successes, and look forward with great anticipation to more in the future.”

The Educational Advertising Awards is the largest, oldest and most respected educational advertising awards competition in the U.S. The complete list of this year’s Educational Advertising Awards winners can be found here.
