Basketball Axeman Ted Upshaw inducted into Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame

An enthusiastic crowd of Acadia alumni was on hand November 20, 2021 at The Auction House in Halifax to mark a wonderful in-person event and celebrate Acadia Alumni Association Board member and Axemen basketball star Ted Upshaw (’80) prior to his induction into the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame.

We were delighted to be on the road again and welcomed 38 members of our alumni community to this special event. Guests who turned out to applaud Ted’s incredible career as a basketball player included: Alumni Association President Donalda MacBeath (’75); incoming Alumni Association President Matt Rios (’14); former Alumni Association President Doug Jackson (’99); Vice-President, Advancement (Interim) Nancy Handrigan (’92); Executive Director, Alumni Affairs Oonagh Proudfoot (’93, ’06); and Executive Director, Office of the President Ian Murray (’88). Other attendees included Acadia’s Athletic Director Brian Finniss (’06), Acadia Axemen head basketball coach Mike Leslie, Ted’s high school coach Ian MacMillan, his cousin and Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Famer Robbie Upshaw (’77, ’81), and many of Ted’s family and friends.
