Acadia University President Ray Ivany (left), fourth-year History major Elisabet Lindale from Uxbridge, ON, former University president Dr. James Perkin and Associated Alumni of Acadia University 1st Vice-President Doug Jackson shared cake-cutting duties on Nov. 15 in the Garden Room at the K.C. Irving Environmental Science Centre. The celebration marked Acadia’s founding 174 years ago on Nov. 15, 1838 and the event, sponsored by the Associated Alumni of Acadia University, included a presentation by Lindale on the history and memory at Hayward House and the contributions of former Board of Governor member Constance Hayward (’27) to the University and its students. Also on hand for the occasion were members of the University Chamber Choir, who sang a stirring rendition of Acadia’s Alma Mater.
