The 1981 Acadia Axemen football team was inducted into the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame in Halifax on November 2, 2013. This remarkable group of gridiron greats rode an undefeated season into the Canadian College Bowl that year and the John Huard-coached Axemen – who had been 22-point underdogs going into the game – pulled off a come-from-behind 18-12 victory over the Alberta Golden Bears to claim Acadia’s second national championship in three years.
