IODE provides student financial aid

Acadia Education student Adam Campbell (BKIN ’12) is this year’s winner of the annual IODE Nova Scotia Annie G. Murray Memorial Scholarship.

Presented on Thursday, February 7, 2013, the $1,000 scholarship started in 1986 after Murray’s death and was awarded to a second-year student at the Nova Scotia Teachers’ College. Since the College closed and Murray attended Acadia University, it was passed by the Provincial Chapter of Nova Scotia IODE (now known as IODE Nova Scotia) that the scholarship be awarded to a student enrolled in the second-year of the Bachelor of Education program at Acadia. Murray was a dedicated teacher, a loyal IODE member and was involved in many community activities. She was a graduate of Ladies Seminary, Class of 1911, and was Valedictorian for her graduating class.

Pictured at the presentation ceremony in Seminary House on the Acadia campus are (left to right): Dr. Ann Vibert, Director of Acadia’s School of Education; scholarship recipient Adam Campbell; and Jacqueline Guyette, IODE Nova Scotia President. Guyette was accompanied by IODE Nova Scotia 1st Vice-President and Education Officer Mary Louise Killam.
