Entertaining evening raises funds for Axemen football program

The Acadia Axemen Football Dinner and fundraiser on July 15 was a perfect way to set the table for the 2022 Touchdown Atlantic CFL football game the following day in Wolfville. The dinner in the Andrew H. McCain Arena on the Acadia campus attracted nearly 300 people and featured Toronto Argonauts’ General Manager Mike ‘Pinball’ Clemons as the keynote speaker. Special guests in attendance representing Acadia included football alum and Chancellor Bruce Galloway (’68, ’03 HON), University President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Peter Ricketts, Vice-President, Advancement (Interim) Nancy Handrigan (’92), Vice-President, Finance and Administration and CFO, Chris Callbeck (’78), Executive Director, Alumni Affairs Oonagh Proudfoot (’93, ’96), Director of Athletics Brian Finniss (’06), Axemen football head coach Jeff Cummins, and Marketing and Development Officer, Athletics, Len Hawley. Pictured are Coach Cummins and Pinball Clemons, former Toronto teammates back in the day. The dinner raised approximately $15,000 and all profits will support the Acadia Axemen football program.
