Vicki MacCrimmon named new Executive Director, Development at Acadia
Acadia University is pleased to welcome Vicki MacCrimmon as the new Executive Director, Development in the Office of Advancement.
MacCrimmon has over 20 years’ experience in fundraising, alumni relations and operations. After several years in the corporate world, she realized her interests and goals aligned more closely with the academic and charitable sector, so she joined the University of Toronto, where she was part of advancement for 13 years.
Her first position at U of T was Director of Development and Alumni Relations, Faculty of Nursing, where she was an integral team member in helping to secure an historic gift that named the first Faculty of Nursing in Canada. She then joined the Division of University Advancement as Director, Donor Relations, where she was instrumental in working with faculties and divisions across the university to create unique stewardship and donor recognition opportunities as part of the $2.4 billion campaign.
For the last five years, MacCrimmon has served as the Executive Director for Best Buddies Canada – a national charitable organization that helps create one-to-one friendships for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In this role she led a very successful expansion campaign that resulted in over 515 chapters across Canada.
MacCrimmon will lead the development program to ensure that the Advancement Office continues to enhance relationships with alumni and friends of the University in support of students, research and the campus. She began on May 1, 2023.
“Vicki MacCrimmon is a seasoned professional who brings incredible capacity and energy to this important role,” says Vice-President, Advancement Nancy Handrigan (’92). “Her considerable experience in the academic and charitable sector will afford many opportunities now and in the future for the University, its students, faculty, staff and alumni, and I’m delighted to welcome her to our team.”
Vicki adds, “I’m thrilled to join the team at Acadia and look forward to engaging with alumni, donors and the University community. I am also excited to relocate to the Annapolis Valley with my family and start exploring all that it has to offer. It’s a beautiful region, and I look forward to settling in, meeting people, and becoming part of this special community.”
