Abstract: Sally will present a beginner’s guide, and a bit beyond, to researching family history. This will include how to proceed, and where to find the best resources. Also covered will be how and why to follow the Genealogy Proof Standard, what challenges are met when doing family research, the structure and use of Ancestry.ca, some tips on taking a DNA test, referencing, and genealogy training routes.
Bio: Sally was an educator for 33 years, teaching in three provinces and three countries in a wide variety of educational settings. In 2019, she decided to embark on an online Master of Genealogy, Palaeography, and Heraldry degree, in order to qualify as a professional genealogist. Sally has since been working in the field, researching family trees, unravelling family mysteries, searching for lost relatives and writing family histories.
