Acadia ALERT - Campus Closed (Hazardous Conditions)

Today, Monday January 19, 2026, Acadia University will remain closed, with the exception of residences and Wheelock Dining Hall, due to the hazardous campus conditions. Wheelock Dining Hall may adjust their hours and any change in hours will be communicated through Residence Life.

Employees and students are not expected to come to campus and only employees deemed essential are required to report to work. Non-essential employees are not expected to work during the closure. Any events scheduled for today will be postponed or cancelled.

Updates will be posted on www.acadiau.ca and pre-recorded on Acadia’s Information Line: 902-585-4636 (585-INFO) and on 585 phone system voicemail. If you need emergency-related information, please contact the Department of Safety and Security by dialing 88 on all 585-phone systems, or by calling 902-585-1103.

Caring for the Caregivers Heart: A Women's Heart and Vascular Health Information Session for those Caregiving to Persons experiencing Disability

January 13, 2026 (6:00 pm - 8:00 pm)

Location: Gym 491, School of Kinesiology, 550 Main Street


Did you know that heart disease is the leading cause of death for women worldwide? Join us on Wear Red Canada day for an information session on women's heart health, tailored specifically for women who provide care to individuals experiencing disability. The event will feature a keynote presentation from Dr. Karen Bouchard, Associate Scientist from the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. Optional cardiovascular disease risk factor measurements will be taken and light refreshments will be provided. This event is open to all women who provide care (unpaid or paid) to individuals experiencing disability, and their support networks.
