Beyond the Bite: From Tick Chemical Ecology to Innovative Management Strategies

Ticks are an increasing concern for public and animal health, highlighting the need for innovative and effective management strategies. This seminar will explore how understanding tick chemical ecology, sensory biology, and behaviour can help us develop new approaches to tick prevention and control. From investigating how ticks detect and locate their hosts to developing novel repellents, acaricides, and biological control strategies, the presentation will highlight recent research advances and their practical applications. It will also introduce the Canadian Tick Research and Innovation Centre (CTRIC) at Acadia University and its role in advancing tick research, surveillance, and innovative solutions to reduce the risks associated with ticks and tick-borne diseases.

Everyone welcome! Light refreshments provided.
