The public talk, “Policing Black Lives,” will be a reflection on the new edition of Policing Black Lives, which will reflect on the realities of policing—and struggles against racial violence—in the wake of the 2020 rebellions in defense of Black life and the contemporary backlash against them.

Drawing from the book’s newest chapters, the talk will also draw attention to the long history of how police reform has served to both deflect from radical demands of Black and other racial justice movements, while expanding the role of policing.
