Wong International Centre Trip to Service Canada in Kentville to get a SIN number

WHAT IS A SIN NUMBER?  The Social Insurance Number (SIN) is used to manage various Canadian government programs. A SIN is assigned to a person living in Canada who wishes to work in Canada or receive benefits and services from government programs.  A branch of Service Canada is located in Kentville approximately 20 minutes from campus. We will travel together by taxis to Service Canada where you will be able to apply for a SIN number.  Information on SIN number can be found here: https://www.canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/services/sin.html

WHAT TO BRING TO SERVICE CANADA:

It is good to have your passport and bring any one of the following documents to apply:

  • a study permit that states you “may accept employment” or “may work” in Canada or
  • a Co-op work permit

WHEN: Friday, October 13th, 2017

TIME: 2:00pm (Meet at Wong International Centre at 1:45pm) – Expected return to campus: 4:30 pm

COST: $8.00 to cover the cost of the return taxi trip. There is no fee for the SIN number.

SIGN UP:  Required by Friday, October 13 at 12noon.

HOW TO SIGN UP:  See Janet in Room 105 of the Wong International Centre. Taxi cost of $8.00 is required at time of sign up (cash only). Sign up between the hours of 9:00am – 3:00pm Monday through Friday.
