Canadian Politics
How does political power really work in Canada?
Explore the institutions, people, and forces that shape Canadian democracy. This course examines the Constitution and Charter, Parliament, the Prime Minister and Cabinet, political parties, elections, the media, and public opinion—and the checks and balances that shape how power is exercised.
Using current events, contemporary debates, and insights from political practitioners, you’ll connect the structures of Canadian government to the political decisions and events that affect Canadians every day. Develop the knowledge and critical thinking skills you need to better understand and participate in Canadian democratic life.
