Acadia Celebrates Research and Academic Excellence

Acadia University will celebrate its rich tradition of research and academic excellence during its first ever Acadia Research Summit to be held March 22 to March 25. The Summit will highlight the diversity of Acadia’s research and creative scholarly achievements.

Over the four-day event, faculty, students, and staff will present on topics ranging from honey bees to bluefin tuna, from digital literacy to poetic inquiry, from wine tourism to workplace civility, and more.

“Acadia researchers undertake an extraordinary range of research across the arts, humanities, professional studies, and the sciences,” says David MacKinnon, acting dean of Research and Graduate Studies. “The Acadia Research Summit will feature more than 50 researchers and projects through short presentations, interactive exhibits, and posters. It’s a great way to learn about the incredible research being conducted in Wolfville.”

The event begins at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22 in the Sheldon L. Fountain Learning Commons with a formal welcome and evening of interactive displays and exhibits.

“We want to encourage both campus and local community members to take part in the Summit, particularly the opening event,” says MacKinnon. “Local high school students are especially encouraged to attend, particularly those who might be interested in the types of research and experiences available to them in a university setting. It will be a great way for prospective students to learn about research possibilities.”

A full schedule of events is available on the Acadia Events Calendar at www.acadiau.ca .
