The Acadia and Holiday Spirit were Strong this Giving Tuesday
by Ashley Cyr
The Acadia spirit—and the holiday spirit —were strong this year as departments across campus worked together to support the Acadia Food Cupboard through Giving Tuesday initiatives.
Our community gave back in a variety of ways this year from a food drive for the ASU Food Cupboard to fund raising $5,608.01. The J&W Murphy Foundation matched donations with $4,401.00 for a grand total of $10,009.01!
The annual food drive collected over 1,000 items with participation from 16 departments across campus. An extra big shout out to the Biology department, which collected more than 300 items! The Food Cupboard is all stocked up just in time for the holidays.
Door sales at Wheelock Dining Hall on Tuesdays throughout the month of November went to the Food Cupboard, bringing in $851.01. And the fan-favourite bake sale was back again this year, raising $1,332.
Last but certainly not least, individual donations totalled $3,425.00.
Thank you to everyone on campus who came together to make this year’s Giving Tuesday a massive success. You all showed us what it means to be part of this generous and compassionate community.
