Hear first-hand updates from Dr. Rod Morrison, Vice-President, Advancement; Dr. Ian Hutchinson, Director of the F.C. Manning School of Business, followed by feature presentation “Stay Engaged and Embrace Change” by Charlotte F. Burke, Class of 1983.

Charlotte Burke holds a BBA in accounting from Acadia and an MBA from Harvard Business School. She has worked as a senior executive at Bell, Hewlett Packard, Sony, and most recently as Chief Commercial Officer with QuickPlay Media, one of Canada’s fastest growing technology companies. Currently, Charlotte is senior executive advisor with the Business Development Bank of Canada. Recognized in 2015 by the Canadian Council for Board Diversity, Charlotte has served on numerous boards, including the Acadia University Board of Governors and as Chair of the Business School Advisory Board. Drawing on her experiences in the boardroom and as a mentor, Charlotte will share her insights into how mobile and digital technology is transforming the world around us and how we can harness this change in our personal and professional lives. Charlotte’s passion is contagious. She will challenge us to stay engaged and embrace change.

Join Peter Armstrong, Class of 1995, Economics Reporter for CBC News, on a backstage tour of the CBC, where you’ll see for yourself how the daily news is prepared and packaged for delivery to your radio and television.

Peter holds a BA from Acadia and completed journalism studies at l'Universite Laval. Previously the host of World Report on CBC Radio, Peter has been a foreign correspondent for CBC Television and CBC Newsworld, based in Jerusalem. He covered the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, and has been a parliamentary correspondent based on Parliament Hill. An award-winning journalist, he has covered three wars and reported in French and English from four continents, traveled extensively through the Middle East, reporting from Israel, Lebanon, Syria and the Palestinian Territories, including reporting live from Barack Obama's ancestral village in Kenya the night of the American presidential election in 2008.

A woman of firsts, Libby was the first female Acadia graduate to pursue a law degree, going on to become the first female barrister to appear before a judge on murder trial in New Brunswick. Her distinguished career in law and public service has been defined, in part, by her determination to encourage greater participation by women in public life. She has been an active participant in political and legislative reforms, and has been honoured for her leadership in numerous ways. She is a Member of the Order of Canada and received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee and Golden Jubilee Medals. Libby received an Honorary Doctor of Civil Laws from Acadia in 2000. She was a key organizer of Acadia’s 1984 celebration marking the 100th anniversary of Acadia’s first woman graduate and was the keynote speaker at the 125th anniversary celebration in 2009.
