An engaged group of Acadia alumni representing grad years spanning from 1984 to 2023 attended an intimate gathering at Cannon Place in London, UK on June 25, 2024 to meet University President Dr. Jeff Hennessy (’99), hear about his first academic year in the role, and the University’s hopes for the future.
Warm temperatures and plenty of sunshine were the order of the day on June 19, 2024 as members of the Acadia community gathered on campus for the third Acadia Alumni Association Faculty and Staff Appreciation BBQ and subsequent General Assembly career milestone celebration.
Technology can be confounding and difficult to understand and appreciate for many people. Those with the training and willingness to share their knowledge, however, have the skills to unlock its powers and end up holding a special place in the hearts of anyone who relies on technology to get the job done. Brad George, recently retired Manager of Hardware Services at Acadia, is one of those people. Over a 30-year career at Acadia, Brad’s patience and outstanding service distinguished him among his peers, going above and beyond with confidence, kindness and a smile. The Acadia Alumni Association is delighted to recognize him as the 2024 recipient of the Outstanding University Service Award.

Taya Lucas-Desmond, a fourth-year environmental science student at Acadia University, has been named the inaugural recipient of the Tory-Bagnall and MacDonald Bursary. Cairine (Tory) and Bernie MacDonald established the $10,000 annual bursary to honour their family's commitment to education and to enable students from the Maritimes to aspire to university.
