In 2019, the Final Report of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls published its report—Reclaiming Power and Place. In 2023, the Mass Casualty Commission released its report – Turning the Tide Together. In 2025, Nova Scotia MLAs declared domestic violence an epidemic. Recommendations are made and bills are proclaimed, yet funding is lacking to address this systemic problem.
