Mid-Winter Feast

February 2, 2026 (4:00 pm - 7:00 pm)

Location: Fountain Commons

Join us on February 2, 2026, from 4:00–7:00 pm in Fountain Commons's Great Hall for Acadia’s Midwinter Feast, a Mi’kmaw tradition that marks the passing of the harshest part of winter and gives thanks for life, health, and community. Rooted in practices that long predate European contact—and revived after being banned under the Indian Act—the Midwinter Feast is a time to come together, share teachings, and enjoy a warm, nourishing meal.

Esteemed Elder Dr. Gerald Gloade will speak about the significance of the Midwinter Feast, followed by a communal feast that reflects the importance of food and connection in Mi’kmaw culture.

Free and open to all members of the Acadia and local communities, this gathering is an opportunity to learn, reflect, and celebrate resilience as the days grow longer.

Schedule:
