Acadia welcomes the world

BNU students

The Acadia University community welcomes 39 students and their chaperones from Beijing Normal University (BNU) for a unique summer language and culture experience. Over the next two weeks, these students will live and learn on the Acadia campus, and venture beyond it to enjoy our local culture and history.

Classroom instruction will include a number of guest lectures from various members of the Acadia faculty. Students will also polish their English language skills through classes from Acadia English for Academic Purposes instructors. Students will live in residence on campus, providing them easy access to Acadia facilities and the famously friendly town of Wolfville.

Beyond their academic studies and life in Wolfville, students will enjoy a number of field trips that express the unique character of the Annapolis Valley. Trips will range from a visit to the Grand-Pré National Historic Site, to tours of our budding local vineyards, to a lobster dinner at Hall’s Harbour where students will witness the Bay of Fundy’s spectacular tides.

After the students bid farewell to Acadia, they will visit Saint Mary’s University in Halifax for an additional two weeks. This marks the third year in which the two universities have successfully provided this special Nova Scotia university experience to BNU students.
