EduNova to launch new Post-Graduation Immigration Support Program

Acadia President Dr. Peter Ricketts and 2021-2022 ASU VP Tanvi Dabas speak with students at the Truth Before Reconciliation Mawio'mi

EduNova is pleased to announce the launch of a new Post-Graduation Immigration Support Pilot Program in Nova Scotia. The program, which is the first provincially funded initiative of its kind in Nova Scotia, aims to support and retain international graduates by providing detailed information on immigration pathway programs via a new iCent app and personalized immigration coaching post-graduation.

“International students are well recognized as a significant pool of potential newcomers to our province,” says Dr. Peter Ricketts, president & vice-chancellor of Acadia University and chair of EduNova’s board of directors. “This program will help Nova Scotia international graduates navigate the Canadian immigration system and identify their best options and pathways to stay in Nova Scotia. We hope this program will further differentiate Nova Scotia as a welcoming and supportive community for international students.”

The program will allow each interested international graduate in Nova Scotia access to a session with a qualified, regulated Canadian immigration consultant, free of charge. The consultants will help graduates navigate the Canadian immigration system by answering questions, identifying suitable pathways for permanent residency, and building confidence in those filing independent applications.

“This funding is key for making immigration support more accessible for all international students in Nova Scotia after graduation,” says Shawna Garrett, president & CEO of EduNova. “Our goal is to help more interested international graduates attain permanent residency and make Nova Scotia their home long-term.”

EduNova, headquartered in Halifax, N.S., is a provincial co-operative association of education providers — the only one of its kind in Canada. EduNova’s mission is to champion Nova Scotia as a leader in the international student experience while advancing social and economic growth in the province.
