Happy 100th Birthday to Rev. Dr. Neil Price

The Acadia University community wishes a happy 100th birthday to Rev. Dr. Neil Price on Friday, March 18, 2016. There are few alumni who have set a higher standard than Rev. Dr. Price. He has a rich and deep connection to Acadia since he entered as a member of the Class of 1940.

Rev. Dr. Neil Price

As a student-athlete, his play impressed spectators from his first game. The March 1938 Athenaeum commented: “The boys got well underway in their first real clash of the season by splashing through to a 6-3 win over Wolfville. The new net minder, Neil Price, appeared to be twins at times, especially when the Axemen fell into the bad habit of forgetting to clear the rubber....” Rev. Dr. Price went on to captain Acadia to its first Maritime Intercollegiate Athletic Association hockey title and inspired a winning tradition at Acadia that earned him a permanent place of honour in our history books.

Rev. Dr. Price established a standard for service to Acadia, the community, and to our country that may well go unmatched. He served alongside fellow graduates in the RCAF and Canada’s armed forces during WWII. He also has a combined 27-years of membership on Acadia’s Board of Governors, and provided leadership in the Wolfville United Baptist Church, the Acadia Divinity College Board of Trustees, and the Convention of Atlantic Baptist Churches.
