Research and Innovation hosts Grant Writing Workshops

Faculty learn, collaborate and begin work on their upcoming Tri-Agency grants

As part of an ongoing initiative to support research at Acadia, the Office of Research and Innovation held two Tri-agency grant writing workshops in June 2026. The workshops, organized with investment from the Research Support Fund, focused on preparing Acadia researchers to write grant proposals for the NSERC Discovery Grants and the SSHRC Insight Research program. The sessions brought together researchers from across disciplines to strengthen proposals, clarify evaluation criteria, and share best practices for developing competitive applications.

Facilitated by Kate Spooner, Grants Facilitator, and Dr. Peter Ludlow, Vice Provost Research and Innovation, the workshops brought together over 20 faculty members to provide hands-on guidance on framing research contributions, demonstrating impact, and aligning proposals with agency priorities. Participants also had the opportunity to ask questions and exchange insights with colleagues at different stages of the grant application process.

“These workshops are an important part of our efforts to support research excellence,” said Ludlow. “By helping faculty navigate the application process and refine their proposals, we’re contributing to stronger submissions and increased success in national funding competitions.”

The workshops reflect Acadia’s ongoing commitment to fostering a vibrant research environment and supporting faculty in securing external funding to advance innovative research.
