Bruce Phinney honoured with Isaac Chipman Award for Excellence in Alumni Service

Larger than life. Many are described that way, but few people can match the hype. Then there’s Bruce Phinney (’81). A dynamic personality, Bruce embodied the spirit and intention of Acadia University’s mandate and values. He was a fierce advocate for countless students, serving Acadia administration, alumni, faculty and staff with verve, intelligence, and insight. Acadia was his heart and soul, and why the Acadia Alumni Association is proud to announce that he is the 2024 recipient of the Isaac Chipman Award for Excellence in Alumni Service.

Awards help strengthen a family bond

Katrina Hayes and Leila Beaudet are both successful Acadia students pursuing double majors - Katrina in Sociology and Women’s and Gender Studies, and Leila in Biology and Environmental and Sustainability Studies. Both have received important financial awards. They also happen to be mother and daughter.

Bursary a boost for Acadia’s new nursing students

When Dr. Bob Lucas (’68, ’69) decided to establish a bursary to support nursing students at Acadia, he had two things on his mind: a strong desire to help students through worrisome academic experiences; and something called ‘The Eleemosynary Fund’.

Acadia alumni enjoyed a lively evening and a great view of Boston from the 25th floor of the offices of Foley and Lardner, LLP at an Atlantic University Alumni Event on September 18, 2024, hosted by the Honourable Bernadette Jordan, Consul General of Canada to New England.

Alumni Association extends warm welcome during orientation

Acadia University welcomed new and returning students back to campus recently during Move-In Day and Orientation Week. Alumni Relations staff and members of the Acadia Alumni Association were also on hand to meet students, parents and alumni, and to remind new students that they are not just joining a group of 3,600 people on campus, but a family of 36,000 strong.
