This introductory session will focus on the basics of making Open Educational Resources (OER) as accessible as possible for learners with disabilities. Creators of OER have a responsibility to make their resources accessible for learners with disabilities; however, there are not a lot of resources that guide this practice. This session will highlight different elements of accessibility to consider when making an OER, such as styles, alt text, and accessible tables and equations. There will be practical tips for implementing accessibility features into the commonly used OER platform, Pressbooks.
