On May 8 and 9, 2022, more than 800 graduates from Acadia University’s four faculties – Arts, Pure and Applied Science, Professional Studies, and Theology – received their undergraduate and graduate diplomas, joining Acadia’s more than 40,000 alumni worldwide. In addition, Acadia conferred five honorary degrees on individuals who have distinguished themselves in public service, education, and scientific research.

Every now and then a person arrives on campus who ticks all the boxes when it comes to defining the quintessence of an Acadia student. The Acadia Alumni Association is proud to recognize and honour one such individual with this year’s The Athenaeum and Acadia Alumni Student of the Year Award: Sarah Lavallée (’22).

Congratulations to Dr. Colin King (’17), recipient of this year's Acadia Alumni Association Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching. If a single line could possibly encapsulate Dr. King’s teaching philosophy, it might very well be: “instead of being a sage on the stage, aim to be a guide on the side.”

There was certainly magic in the air at Pier 21 in Halifax on April 28, 2022 when more than 200 Acadia alumni and friends gathered for this year’s Acadia Alumni Dinner, honouring Distinguished Alumni and Outstanding Young Alumni Award recipients Dr. Trevor Jain (’93) and Lucas Oickle (’13).

Marc’s Lounge in Charlottetown was the place to be for Acadia alumni on Thursday, April 14, 2022 as Vice-President, Advancement (Interim) Nancy Handrigan ('92), and Executive Director, Alumni Affairs Oonagh Proudfoot ('93, '06) welcomed guests to an in-person event on Prince Edward Island.

Saint John, NB, was the second stop on our Maritime swing this week and an enthusiastic group of Acadia alumni were on hand at Gahan House Port City for a lovely in-person gathering.
