Acadia University joins alliance to build bioscience skills and training in Atlantic Canada

Today the Future Skills Centre (FSC) announced the investment of $1.5 million to support the establishment of the Canadian Alliance for Skills and Training in Life Sciences (CASTL), a unique partnership among Atlantic industry, academic, and government partners to address the significant future skills needs of the bioscience sector in Canada. CASTL is one of 30 projects, out of hundreds of submissions, to receive funding as part of a $37-million investment to help employers find workers with the skills they need and to support Canadians in acquiring those in-demand skills.

Acadia announces Fall 2020 intentions

Acadia University intends to welcome students back to campus for a COVID-19-ready Fall 2020 term with a hybrid approach to teaching and learning, announced Dr. Peter Ricketts, Acadia’s President and Vice-Chancellor. His message to the Acadia community was sent directly to students, faculty, and staff via email on June 1, 2020.

Alumni Association donates $50,000 to support COVID-19 Student Relief Fund

The Association announced this week a $50,000 donation to the recently established COVID-19 Student Relief Fund to help provide bursary support in variable amounts to second, third and fourth-year students facing ongoing and/or summer employment disruption or other financial difficulties as a result of the pandemic.

Acadia celebrates its Class of 2020

Acadia University’s Class of 2020 will officially graduate this May; however, the Convocation ceremonies and related activities scheduled from May 8-11 were postponed amid the coronavirus pandemic. That won’t stop the Acadia community from celebrating the accomplishments of 845 graduates in the faculties of Arts, Pure and Applied Science, and Professional Studies.

Two researchers in Nova Scotia are looking to find out how people in the province are coping in isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The study aims to find out how physical distancing, stay-at-home orders and the uncertainty around how long the restrictions will last are affecting the well-being of Nova Scotians.
