Works of art: archaeologist Aaron Taylor examines unearthed ancient Mi'kmaw artifacts

The dry summer shrank a lake in Nova Scotia's Annapolis Valley, revealing ancient Mi'kmaw artifacts and starting a conversation about how to best preserve such finds.

Aaron Taylor, an archeologist, has seen both recent finds — a point likely prepared for a spear and an arrowhead. "They're works of art," he told CBC News in a phone interview.

Acadia University Psychology Professors Receive Prestigious Funding

The Canadian Foundation for Innovation (CFI) has just announced that Acadia Psychology Professors, Dr. Anne-Sophie Champod and Dr. Daniel Lametti, have been awarded $371,012 through the John R. Evans Leaders Fund (JELF) toward a $927,533 project to construct and equip the Acadia University Centre for Neuroscience and Cognitive Health.

Out of Milk: Researcher's book examines infant food insecurity

A food insecurity expert says the Nova Scotia government needs to do more to ensure families living in poverty can afford to feed their babies.

Lesley Frank is an associate professor of sociology at Acadia University in Wolfville, N.S., and the co-author of the Canadian Centre For Policy Alternatives' annual Nova Scotia Poverty Report Card. Her latest research found 31 per cent of newborns to two-year-olds live below the poverty line.
