Scholarships & Financial Assistance

With education costs on the rise, enhancing student assistance is a top priority for Acadia. Each year, we award more than $4 million to students in the form of scholarships, scholar-bursaries, bursaries, awards, and prizes. By maintaining a strong scholarship and financial assistance program, we are able to attract, retain and support our students.

As a donor to scholarships and financial assistance, you can direct your gift toward: general award funds or awards for specific departments, faculties, research, or athletic teams; any existing named awards; or you can create a personal legacy by establishing a named award yourself. By supporting scholarships and financial assistance, you can help to ensure access to all of the rewards of an Acadia education.

The Beveridge Science Scholarship in the Faculty of Pure and Applied Science is awarded annually to a student entering their final year of an undergraduate degree program in the Faculty. The criterion for the scholarship shall be broadly based on academic excellence and is awarded to a student who best exemplifies the qualities, initiative, experimental learning, leadership and enthusiasm for their area of study, as determined by the previous year’s marks and on the basis of an interview and a dossier which will be reviewed by an examining committee. Preference will be given to a student in their final year. If there is no qualified student in their final year, this award can be awarded to an eligible student in any year of study.

Dr. James Beveridge (’37) was an outstanding scholar, multi-talented athlete, and the tenth president of Acadia University (1964-78).
