Scholarships & Financial Assistance

With education costs on the rise, enhancing student assistance is a top priority for Acadia. Each year, we award more than $4 million to students in the form of scholarships, scholar-bursaries, bursaries, awards, and prizes. By maintaining a strong scholarship and financial assistance program, we are able to attract, retain and support our students.

As a donor to scholarships and financial assistance, you can direct your gift toward: general award funds or awards for specific departments, faculties, research, or athletic teams; any existing named awards; or you can create a personal legacy by establishing a named award yourself. By supporting scholarships and financial assistance, you can help to ensure access to all of the rewards of an Acadia education.

Eligible facultiesAthletics

Established in 2021, these awards are presented annually on recommendation by the Manager, Sport Performance in conjunction with the Varsity Sport Coaches. They are awarded to one male and one female returning varsity athlete. The recipients should be of good academic standing (above 3.0 GPA) and have demonstrated the virtues of high performance in their preparation for their sport: compete, resilience, discipline, work ethic, passion. The award honours Elliott Richardson (2010), former Head Strength and Conditioning Coach/Manager, Sport Performance, and Football Axemen. His commitment to continually striving for excellence led him to become a team captain, two-time All-Canadian, and two-time AUS Champion. This commitment carried him to the CFL as an undrafted free agent who went on to start for two years during his three-year career. Following his playing career, Elliott returned to Acadia to take on the role as Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. His goal was to help every athlete and team become their best. Over 10 years, the service that Elliott founded developed into a multi-disciplinary, high performance program that became the model in Canada.
