With education costs on the rise, enhancing student assistance is a top priority for Acadia. Each year, we award more than $4 million to students in the form of scholarships, scholar-bursaries, bursaries, awards, and prizes. By maintaining a strong scholarship and financial assistance program, we are able to attract, retain and support our students.
As a donor to scholarships and financial assistance, you can direct your gift toward: general award funds or awards for specific departments, faculties, research, or athletic teams; any existing named awards; or you can create a personal legacy by establishing a named award yourself. By supporting scholarships and financial assistance, you can help to ensure access to all of the rewards of an Acadia education.

Established by alumni and friends of the initial 15 years of football at Acadia, the Football Builders Award is granted to a returning football student-athlete. The successful recipient must show a passion toward improving as a football athlete, is in good academic standing and demonstrate leadership in the community. The recipient will be chosen by the Football Head Coach in consultation with the Director of Athletics. The Football Builders Award is in memory of four former Acadia football coaches: Major Fred Kelly (’38) coached the football program from 1956 to 1959; Neil “Scorchy” MacVicar (’50) was named Head Coach in 1960 until 1964 followed by Bill Busching (1965-1967) and George Hemond (1968-1970). All four were instrumental builders of varsity football at Acadia.
